On Saturday, May 10th (rain or shine), the Animal Welfare League of Arlington will kick off Arlington's Neighborhood Day with the 13th Annual Walk for the Animals to help raise money for homeless animals in our community. Come join nearly 500 people and 300 dogs at Bluemont Park for a 3-mile walk or a 1-mile stroll -- or simply come and enjoy the various activities and demonstrations.
The success of this event depends of the number of people who walk with us and collect pledges. Since this is a pledge walk, it is important to ask friends, co-workers and neighbors to sponsor you. A registration fee of $25 is required for each pre-registered walker (with a reduced fee for children). All pre-registered walkers will receive a free t-shirt and bandana. On-site registration is available the day of the Walk in the amount of $40 for adults. On-site registrants can not be guaranteed a t-shirt and bandana.
The benefits of walking with us for the 13th Annual Walk are endless! Not only do you get to spend the day outside with some of the cutest dogs in Arlington and help a great organization raise money for the animals in our community, but you can now also win some great prizes!
Prizes will be awarded on April 10th and May 10th for:
- the person who raised the most money during that month, and
- the person who had the most donors during that month.
Prizes will also be given to our 100th, 250th, and 500th participant! On the day of the walk we will award the person and team who have raised the most money with special prizes as well. The Animal Welfare League of Arlington is a private, non-profit, progressive humane society with more than 60 years of experience helping animals, their families and the community. The League is committed to the humane treatment of animals and to the promotion of animal welfare. The League provides temporary care and refuge for homeless and suffering animals; places animals in loving, responsible homes; prevents cruelty to animals; provides animal control services; educates the public; and provides community services.
All proceeds from the Walk will help the League to continue this important work.
